Sponsor a Bed

Rwanda has a medical insurance scheme which entitles members to limited free medical care provided by regional health centres, but many cannot afford to pay the £3.00 ($6.00) yearly fee. Whilst the Kibogora Initiative is committed to meeting the cost of insurance for the vulnerable groups we are working with, the insurance does not cover hospital treatment or drugs.

The "Sponsor a Bed" scheme was started in 2005 with the sole purpose of providing the hospital with a reliable monthly income to help meet the costs of medication and related costs for those who cannot pay.

The scheme also contributes to the feeding program for malnourished children.

Your assistance in helping us to continue meeting these objectives is greatly appreciated, whether as a one off donation or a regular contribution on a monthly or quarterly basis. When we have commitments from sponsors to regular payments we are able to make longer term commitments to the hospital.

What does it cost?

Not much in European or American terms.

The average cost of running each hospital bed at Kibogora is £3,($6.00) per day or £90 ($180.00) a month. This covers not only the hospital running costs but also the average cost of medication, treatment or surgery Therefore, we invite you to make a commitment to help us by sponsoring a number of days care per month.

We can accept donations online (please click here) or If you would prefer, you can download a donation form. Please complete it and mail to the address shown on the form. If you are a UK taxpayer please complete the “Gift Aid” part of the form as this will enable us to reclaim part of the tax you have already paid on the donation.
